About me
About me
My main topic of interest is memory in all its forms: from engrams in the brain, to capacitors in a RAM chip, to the broader notion that anything is a form of memory, insofar as its current state depends on a previous one. From there, my interest extends to the organization of information: that abstract yet ever-present layer that, at different levels, interacts with our senses and mind.
Software is a means to an end.
I write software to ease workflow problems while navigating my collection of EPUB books: rgathing to search inside them, fdthing to find them, epubthing to read them.
Or I write software to research ways to organize information: visualtags and visualnotes, to find something using tags rather than a hierarchy of folders.
Or I try to explore the latent space of possibilities that an interface over spaced repetition algorithms can open up, as in SpacedBlue.
The last kind is writing software as a gift for someone else: projects that spark from affection, rare in frequency, but the most dense in meaning.
